    • The Sandy Hook Conspiracy
My two cents.  Since the tragic shootings at Sandy Hook, I have noticed an increase in people creating Facebook conspiracy pages. Dubbed "truthers", many people have called into question whether this horrific event even occurred.  Some of them are even posting private family photos of the children who died.  If you are one of these people, I wo […]

    • The Underside of Vine: Another Headache for Employers
Daniel SchwartzAs I highlighted last month, Vine – a new video-sharing app — is quickly infiltrating the workplace.  Since my original post, I’ve been keeping tabs on what people are doing on it. And it isn’t pretty.  Videos seem to be increasing with people using hashtags like “#work” or “#worksucks” daily.  They are also using hashtags... Continue Reading […]

Secrets of Legal Bloggers

Posted By Irene C. Olszewski, Esq. on March 6, 2012

Tonight, I had the privilege of participating in a panel discussion sponsored by the Young Lawyers Section of the Connecticut Bar Association. (See Monday’s post for more details on the event).  I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Some 30+ lawyers attended the discussion, held at the offices of Pullman & Comley in Hartford.  In addition to yours truly (representing my Connecticut Lesbian and Gay Law blog), the panel consisted of Adrian M. Baron (Podorowsky, Thompson & Baron, New Britain) who authors The Nutmeg Lawyer; Daniel B. Fitzgerald (Brody Wilkinson PC), author of  Connecticut Sports Law;  Ryan C. McKeen (Leone Throwe Teller & Nagle, East Hartford), author of both A Connecticut Law Blog and his newest endeavor, Connecticut. Runner. Lawyer.; and Daniel A. Schwartz (Pullman & Comley LLC, Hartford) who authors Connecticut Employment Law Blog.  It was truly an honor to be on the panel with those fine lawyer bloggers.

Panel2

We were there to share our “secrets” and I hope, to inspire other lawyers to launch their own blogs.  As much as we were there to share our own personal knowledge, I believe that we each learned something from the other panelists.  If nothing else, we had a wonderful time.

Legal blogging is fun.  I’ve enjoyed writing this blog for what will soon be 3 years.  I’ve been writing my sister blog, Connecticut Lesbian and Gay Law, for the same amount of time.  In those years, I’ve met many wonderful people and had some opportunities that I may not ever have had but for having chosen to author my blogs.  Meeting the other panelists for the first time in person ranks among those opportunities.  Some of us have been communicating via e-mail, social media and blog comments for a couple of years now … tonight, we shook hands for the first time.  I marveled at how much we already knew about one another through our blogs.  You might have noticed that I have RSS feeds to my colleagues’ blogs on the left side of this blog.  I read them as often as I can.  That’s part of the fun.

Thanks to the CBA’s Young Lawyer Section for the invitation.  Thanks to the moderators for posing such thoughtful questions.  Thanks to the lawyers who turned out for the event and took full advantage of the Q & A time and the one-on-one conversations.  Good luck to each of you in your blogging endeavors.  I’ll be watching for you!
